Vanda Guthrie was born into a family of artists and musicians. Vanda is perhaps best known for her work in the music community in Athens, Georgia, where she has been a musician and performer, as well as a guitar teacher, to people young and old for over twenty years. Playing guitar was her passion. Art was something she always enjoyed, but only worked on occasionally until tragedy struck in 2009. Her son, Jon, was killed in a tragic accident, causing her journey to take a turn.

For a year, she couldn’t pick up a pencil or a paint brush, but in an attempt to heal her broken heart, she began to draw. Once she started, she couldn’t stop and the art that began as an effort to survive, became a source of new joy. Whimsical Art by Vanda Guthrie was born.

Vanda uses India ink and watercolor for her creations and draws most of her inspiration from nature. Her fervent hope is that her art will bring a smile to everyone who encounters it.
